Strange VP Battles

I did two VP battles over the weekend and thought I'd pass along a few "do nots" for those of you relatively new to the VP.

In the first battle (during the pie throwing phase) I had a toon repeatedly whispering to me to "Please be my friend". Must have happened 50 times. It was evident he wasn't even helping with the battle... just begging me to be friends. Now I've been pestered everywhere else in Toontown before but never during a VP battle. Weird!

In the second (and this seems to happen alot) I had another toon trying to build trap gags. We were getting hit hard by level 12's and trying to get in a lure break so we could heal. Sure enough, as soon as someone brought out a lure people started throwing rakes, marbles, whatever traps they had just to get the points. Another kept calling for us to "sound" against lured level 12's and pulling out his elephant trunk. We did manage to convince him not to actually blow the horn (thankfully) but he repeatedly tried to get us to go along with this silly idea. I think he was acting more out of panic than anything (and the mistaken belief that our sounding level 12's would do something other than kill us). These were 50 laffers who could ill afford to get 20 laffs taken away but they never quite got the point (5 out of 8 of us survived).

Lesson one... when throwing pies, throw pies. Worry about making friends in the playground after the fight.

Lesson two ... DO NOT use the VP to build gag experience. If all you have is low level traps and sounds, leave those slots empty and stock up on your most powerful gags or toonups. If your effort will not kill the (lured) cog, PASS. Group effort is essential to playing this aspect of the game. First rule of teamwork ... DO NO HARM.

Trap

If it's one thing that has been frustrating me on Toontown lately, it is the toons building up trap. One of my toons does have the trap gag, but I do not use them unless I know it can kill the cog or if I am playing with other toons that can help kill the cog. I've been seeing this more and more frequently with both buildings and during the VP fight.

Edited: I should read before posting. meant to say that what frustrates me is building up trap by using weak gags with high level cogs. ie throwing rakes and marbles at level 7+ cogs.

Help Building Trap

I maxxed my lure helping a friend build her trap. She and I would do factory runs together.. I would lure and she trap, then she would bust out the lured cogs for me to build drop. If you can find someone to do this with, it's a blast.

We always save the Foreman for last, and let him hit us repeatedly until we burn up all out tune up gags. I've got another 1500 points to max tune up.

If you want to build trap, and see me, just say "Lets go to the factory" and "Lets use trap" and I'll go on a run with you. Max gags on trap and tuneup...

Unhappy Another VP miss

I think this was run 7 for me. I did reboot my computer before the run, and I noticed a LOT better graphics response. I only have a 32 MB card, so I think the reboot helped a lot. I only got hit with one -10 VP jump.

The battle: Yes, we had folks trying to build trap and sound. Incredible! The other team lost one toon during the cog round, which left my Skely team one short, which turned out to be a blessing. My friend was with me (Crazy Bumbleswirl), and another experieinced toon (sorry, I forgot to write down your name!).

Anyway, we handled our Slelecogs without any difficulty. Lure left attack right. The other team amazingingly was still using sound. After we finished off our Skelies, we ran around to help out the other team, although they were all gone, except for one toon, completely invisible, with -48 laff. We attempted to ressurect her, but she perished the first round. The three of us again defeated the skelies, and with only using a Squirt Restock card.

Three pie throwers against the VP seems possible. I concentrated on jumping, and positioning myself to hit the works when it was opened. The other toon hit the works much more than I, and my small toon throws perfect lobs to drive the VP back. We had him past the center of the Helipad when we lost my friend, Crazy Bumbleswirl. I hope she finds this forum and learns how to tuneup with pies!

So me and this other toon battled the VP. Twice the VP started back up the ramp, and twice we pushed him back. I think that with the shorter stun time as he approaches the edge, it may be impossible to push him over with only two toons. I finally ate too many gears (103 laff - (3 x a lot of gears)), which gives you an idea of the length of the battle, and went sad.

I'll make a couple factory runs and try again tonight.

Talking

A little while ago I fought the VP and all the cogs in the first round were level 3 and under (there was one level 12) but that was it we got about no skill creidit becuse we were all carrying level 4+ sond gags. The skellys were a piece of cake to most were level 10 so we just kept using our fog horns. only five of use survived though the other side must have been very hard.
