Bad play will trump good play every time. Its just part of the randomness of the game. I've gone with seven cold callers randomly that played great, and I've gone with six good players and one bad player and everyone went sad. Obviously they thought that they were doing things right. Sounds like they'll be CC1's along time.

yeah that happened to me just yesterday it was my first v.p.we get passed the first round of cogs(as i stupidly run into the vp
)then came the skelcog round we get to the last round off skelcogs i used up all my toon-up so i tried using my large magnet but none off them hit exept my last one sad part was that none off us in the skelcog round had 100+laugh and there were all 100+ laughers on the other side all 4 bu on my side there were only 3 of us because someone went sad on the first round!!!! but the funny part was i wasnt the first toon to go sad i miss all the cogs hits with 11laugh left the other toons go sad there were only 3 lvl 11 cogs left and no more skelcogs come out of the vps under belly but with only 11 laugh left it is impossible butt you know what it is not possible for me with only lvl2 sound to kill the remaining cogs so i go sad back to the playground butt i luckily only lost 2 cog disscise parts butt i am not vp'ing untill i have at least my next toon-up or at least one lvl 6 gag and more lp so ha ha ha ha ha ha ha |

I think the word discrimination has got a bad rap.
It’s ok to be discriminating if you ask me. I have done more VP than I care to admit to, but I did eventually learn my lesson. The best tactic for VP is to go with your friends. Now you don’t need 8 100+LP toons to make it. But the less their LP is, the more important for them to understand what they are doing. A 25 LP toon can survive the VP, but they have to know what they are doing. The more LP you have the better you will survive mistakes. Random groups do work for some people (Loosy goosy is a great example of that), but random groups never worked for me. If I were you, I would wait for friends to do a VP run with. Our group consisted of about 5 or 6 toons. We would go to mid size districts and wait for a couple of other toons to join us and then we would go in with 8. This way, you know you will have at least one other good player with you on your side, and you still have a couple of people with you that may get good experience watching how more experienced players go through the VP. Here's a piece of advice for you:
Never go into V.P. with random toons! I've been humiliated several times due to such behavior when I was tempted to bang my head against my screen and say to myself, "Think! THINK NEXT TIME!" I was a 72 laffer and I felt confident to try V.P. I went to the most populated district (mistake #1) and went into the lobby. There were these Mr. Hollywood 100 laffers and they keep on using the "Stinky" phrases but I'm just heading toward the elevator. Once I get on, almost all the toons get on. Three were 100+ laffers, the rest of us were 80- (mistake #2.) I knew this wasn't good because I ended up with the team of 80- laffers: a 56, an 80, a 65 and myself. Pretty bad for your eleventh try, huh? We just barely made it through the first round; all of us having around 30 laff left. Luckily for me, the next round I was with two 100s and the 56. I felt safer with the high laffers but the 56 laffer constantly said "Let's use sound!" Assuming he was training sound, I summoned my level 2 sound (mistake #3.) Apparently, 100-laffer one didn;t have sound and the other had level four. I said to myself, "Oh, that's perfect" with the 56 using his level 1s, 2s, and 3s. We're fighting the skellies just fine when 100-laffer 1's lure makes it for the first time! Too bad the 56 laffer was stubborn enough to use his level 2. I, with around 40 laff left, ended dying to the awful lag that didn't let me get to choose a gag. Moral? Well, that next time I tried V.P. I went with my sf's and won! Lesson learned. |

not as sad as this
This is not a tirade on noobes, because it applies to higher laffers as well. Some toons get to 50+, 60+ laff, and still doesn't understand the concept and the relationship between lure, trap, sound, drop.
But then maybe losing once in a while is part of the game. I am a 104 laffer, and it does get somewhat boring when everything goes well everytime. A little bit of frustration and head banging really gets the adrenaline up! my sad story is that I went with some 100+ and 80+ laffers, only 2-3 are still CC. We went through the 2 rounds pretty well. But then it comes time to throw the pies, some toons just sat back and watched, some stood so far away that the pie didn't hit the VP at all. There was no organized effort to toon each other up. Sad ending: all of us died! ( I have noticed that some toons are very active in pie-ing the VP, while some just let others do the work, and preserve their laff meter)
