re: He who shall be nameless
Quote:
He doesn't sound amused dear. He sounds like he knows that he's behaving online in a manner that people would find offensive were it happening in real life. He's seeking validation from folks of like mind. It's easier to behave badly if others say it's okay. The grits comment was amazingly clumsy, unless it was meant as you interpreted it. "Tea and toast" would have been more usual or perhaps "oatmeal" as the breakfast cereal of choice. It's pointless to mention it, though. The original poster will continue to deny that he's ever been offensive and claim that everyone who has an opposing opinion is picking on him. What I believe is supposed to happen is, those who see my photo and agree will laugh. Those who hold more enlightened opinions won't dare to express their disgust because, after all, he didn't actually say anything. He'll just cry that they're being mean to poor little innocent him again. I care about the general tone of the game. I don't actually care about how he plays the game. That means that it's important to share our laughter in public sometimes to remind people that civilized behavior shouldn't stop when you're in the supposedly annonymouse internet environment. I don't care about the original poster except in a general, "wish I could help" manner. He's entitled to his opinion. Folks like him who say what they think enable folks to disagree in public and state why they disagree. Without that discourse, the rules of what is--or is not-- acceptable behavior, are too soft. As ever beloved, you are my knight in shining armor. My protector, the most wonderful man on earth. I thank you for being who you are. I love you in a million different ways. <rofl> One of the best things about you is the fact that you have a brain. I think in this instance, in order to protect me, you engaged in a battle of wits with an unarmed man! Last edited by Bunny Summers; 05-31-2004 at 08:33 PM. Reason: thin ice has broken through |

Let's all stop encouraging this thread to go any further. Although our (adults)vocabulary and wit are mature I can't say the same for the manor in which they are being used.
Please no attacks on me for my input.

Uncalled for
I generally stay out of confrontations between people, however I feel strongly enough about this to come forward with my 2c
FancyFrank, we can debate subjects all day if you would like. You can post your opinion about this game and how it should/shouldn't be played, but the comment about 'grits' really offended me. It isn't so much what it would mean to the mice as they are mature enough to deal with such comments. But this is a fan site with many children and adults from all over the world. I do not wish to get into an argument over this and do not expect a response. I just felt compelled to offer my feelings about that post. I will now retreat back to the stands and resist any such further urges to post here. This thread is now dead to me.

me too
well, I generally enjoy watching people debate..and I do tend to lurk,rather than say much..but I also found the grits thing out of line...but as in real life, eventually people open a window to their soul with those types of comments..it's kind of sad if you ask me, to have to put something like that out there in the middle of an argument, but at least now we know where you are coming from--a place I'd rather not be.

going overboard
Quote:
I think you guys are over-reacting here! First of all Mr/Mrs Mouse just because he mentioned grits doesn't mean that it was the type of comment you thought it was. I took it as simple talk over breakfast. Neither of you can say you are not partiscipants in this whole thing. I have read your opening remarks which were quite harsh to say the least. I would have been equally as angry as he was if you had said that to me. I think you two were outwitted by him from my perspective and were the first to start this. Wizardhawk, I think if you feel that way you at least need to ask him what he meant before you attempt to validate that don't you think so? Thats something you would want to get clear, and I think you did more harm than good. There are no winners here at all including you wizardhawk. G.O.O. |

I really didn't think I needed to spell it out for anyone but once again I am proven wrong. Mrs. Mouse has her picture as an avatar. She is obviously a person of color. He makes a reference to 'grits' which is a common item in the south. I could keep putting up more 'dots' for you to connect, but I doubt I would get anywhere so I'll leave you with one last 'dot'. They live in Southern California. He could have chosen any item as a food with which he assumes they share over thoughts of him and yet he chose one that SOME might take offence to. You may well say that those who would are just too sensitive if you like. This is an argument over used in our society. If someone finds an action or word(s) to be offensive, why not just respect those feelings and attempt to find other words. There is a great big book out there with thousands of words that few would take offence to. Is it really that unreasonable to wish that some would use it and simply avoid the conflict in the first place? He probably didn’t mean any harm with that statement, but there will be those who read it and find it distasteful anyway. If I had said something of that nature, I would have posted an apology and restated my words. That is what I would do, you, FF, and everyone else in here can simply pass off the feelings of others as invalid and ignore it if you choose. It will not change my opinion sir. Have fun in toontown…

How Dare YOU
[quote=Mrs. Mommy Mouse]
Quote:
Wow what a thread! Mr. Mrs Mouse I regret to inform you that I am with fancyfrank on this one. You both hopped on him hard from the start, without even a inkling of kindness, and now you expect that he show respect to you after that. Sorry it don't wash with me! I also felt that the grits comment was ment only as breakfast items. Let me tell you something you don't know about fancyfrank. Did you know that he plans to join the CCG after he reaches hollywood 50? I have played with him for a while now on a weekly basis, and have never once seen him use " bad sportsmanship" as you claim. He has many friends on his list that are below 60 laff, and while he doesn't go with them to the VP, he always is willing to help toons stuck on a task in any building in toontown. I know this for a fact. Your portrait of him is unfair, bias and disturbs me, especially since I never see you on any of his runs. I don't have anything against you and I don't know you. But you don't know him either, and he doesnt deserve your remarks. If everyone in toontown treated noobs like him, noobs would not be posting their displeasure here on this site. So what if he chooses to do the vp with experienced players! He has helped pleanty of noobs get tasks done only it isn't in headquarters. I honestly believe if you had played with him or talked to anyone who has, you would not feel the way you do, or say the things you say. WizardHawk, you only feed the fuel into the fire with that comment. You as well as the mice should have clarified things before esclating them. I am surprised at you. Please don't reply negatively to me for writing this, I just wanted to tell you your feelings are misguided, and I know it to be true. Regarding the above quote, you two mice were outwitted hands down. Reason being that all your claims are false about his sportsmanship, and his treatment of fellow toons. I'm not speaking from your standpoint, Im speaking as an eyewitness. Peppermint 103laff-level 6 TU/TRP/SD/TH/SQ/DRP Name Dropper |

You can think as you wish and feel any way you want on this topic. I am also free to feel what I do. I said he probably didn't mean any harm by it, but it may still offend others.

Thank You
[quote=Peppermint]
Thank you Good OLe Ozzie and Peppermint for your support. Since I have already deceided not to address the mice anymore, I will address you and them with this one exception. You guys know how I play this game first hand. As much as I dislike people who deal in conjecture and supposition as the mice do, I stand behind all of my previous statements with this one exception, I have to retract the statement regarding grits. It was not my intention to purposely use this as a tool, but as a breakfast item that I enjoy myself from time to time. Being that I am not white myself and have had to deal with prejudices also, I can see how this got blown out of porpotion, expecially since my race could be perceived to be white due to this being an online venue and my posting no pic. I do not apologize for the use of the breakfast item because my intentions were honorable, but I do apologize to both of them being that their feelings were disturbed. I am man enuff to admit that that was a poor choice of items, and sincerely do so. Aside from this, their assumption about my dealings with children are to me equally inflamatory in that I have children of my own that play this game, but I wll do what is right, and take the medicine for those remarks. I am man enough to admit to a mistake, and hope that they sincerely believe that that is what it really was. I will continue to play the way I always have, and help toons of all levels, even though it may be perceived in another light by some. I still feel strongly about the mices inaccurate comments, but need to clear the air on this single topic. The reference to grits has been replaced with a different term in the origional post. thanks fancyfrank Last edited by FTiodor; 05-31-2004 at 07:44 AM. |

Thank you frank,
Now that you have cleared the air and, as I thought, you had no malice intended, I am free to formulate an opinion and have it validated here. As to color, I seriously never assumed what yours was. Mine, for the record, is blue as my avatar shows

wow
WOW!! *applauds*, I would have never beleived it if someone had told me that a bunch of adults were fighting over a game. wow im amazed. I say that everyone should play the way they feel like it, but just because u are a Mr. Hollywood doesn't mean you are superior, Please! What's that about "show me your laff and cog suit for credibility?"(OMG)(how old are you fancyfrank?) I bet you are old enough to be much more mature than that. YH werent you a newbie once?(yeah? that's what I thought). Come on people its just a game, enjoy it any way you want it. Just please, please whats with the "suggestions"? Who are you to tell us how to play? When you are telling us that you will play they way you want to?(weird...). and these are adults posting? If being an adult means giving suggestions like this, I never want to be one...
