The best you could do is ignore them. I'd do the same thing. If I didn't feel like fighting cogs, I would wait somewhere. I only do long runs with friends, or I'd expect the same thing. As for the timer, I wouldn't start a battle without quite a wait. I'd give them some time to catch up, before I said screw it, and started a battle. THEN I would let the timer run low, and if they're not there.. lure. If they're still not there when the timer gets low, they took too long.
If I didn't feel obligated to help.. I would allow a little bit of time for them to kill atleast a few extra cogs.. |

We now have an alarm telling us when someone enters the Center Silo. I'd
say anything goes, and if you have to run to get to the Center Silo, run! If you make it to the Center Silo before everyone else, they have to hurry if they want credit. Having said that: 1) The Foreman warning is a message to all of us that sticking together is the best way to avoid ANY problems in this regard. 2) Try to go only go in the factory with your buddies so that you go only where you need to go (parts vs. merits). 3) The highest laff toon dictates the direction of the party. Read on while I 'splain : I enjoy doing random factory runs all the time. Most of the time it'swith 30-50's'things (yea all you laff snobs, I'm helping them *eg*). After defeating the Boiler Room, inevitably, they run straight to the Warehouse barking "This way" all the way into trouble. Meanwhile, I'm taking out the skellies in the Pipe Room and the cogs in the Side Entrance. It's usually around the time I'm in the Oil Room when they all come bumbling back to me. It's great fun! Just because they know a 103 laffer is going with them doesn't mean I'm going to do their bidding

Yes, generally the lower toons follow the highest toon, since they quite often need their high gags to get through the foreman.
As for splitting up, I hate it, I missed out on two Hollywoods that way when the only reason I was in the factory in the first place was to hunt for Hollywoods.

I guess my main question got answered. I agree about staying together but after 15 minutes of them gathering beans, cones and entering another battle besides the ones needed to complete the factory me and the other toon decided to go on. Of course we would have waited for them at the top. But they freaked out and ran off together towards the west silo screaming you stink, finished their side jumped into the last battle and finished without us. I mean all of this is silly to begin with but I was left wondering if maybe I was wrong to continue the game while they "played" around.

Sometimes this works!!
Before you go in the elevator, say I need to defeat some cogs! Sometimes that works. Toons that need lots of merits will stick with you and follow you to the back door away from the maddening crowd.
