Unhappy VP is SO frustrating

I've been playing the game for over a year. I've got two 100+ cogs (Zaphod Beeblebrox and Doctor Sadie Doggenberry), both have pretty much all lvl 6 gags.

The sellbot factory is pretty much a piece of cake. As long as there is one other 70+ lp toon with me, I couldn't care less what other level toons are with me.

But the VP...I can't stand it. I've gone in 5 times, and only won once. I've got no clue how we won, either. Beating the cogs/skelecogs is pretty simple. But the VP...I just started reading some of the posts here about tips for beating the VP, but I can't seem to get it right. Its gotten so frustrating that it doesn't pay to keep playing. I'm glad I found this board - this is my first post here. Because the help on the Toontown site *****.

I've seen tidbits of advice here and there on this board. I guess I'll try the sniping thing, because nothing else seems to work. Every time I get close to the box, I get my toony behind kicked. I'm a midsized toon, and when I get behind someone to try to throw pies at them, it just goes over their heads. And any time I reach for my mouse to use speedchat to ask for a toonup, I also get my toony behind kicked. I just can't win.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't suppose you are a brown dog with 102 laff who is missing your level 6 trap and level 6 sound are you? I'm a short, light blue cat with 103 laff and all gags, not all maxed though, with a Zaphod Beeblebrox on my friends list.

I'd be happy to help you out with the VP then... as soon as I manage to get my parts and merits. Just got to Mingler level 7, so I need quite a few.

EDIT - Nevermind. Only 3 parts and 520 merits.

Look at this thread for some good tips on beating the VP.

Tips for V.P.

Good luck! Once you get the hang of it, you can win most of the time. One small tip: try District Screwy Park or Kookyboro; more experienced VP toons there. Try going in with mostly toons with cog disguise higher than Coldcaller until you get some winning experience under your belt...

Please don't go with that Cold Caller comment. We don't need someone else thinking suit disgimination. I'm 27-1 against the VP. I have three Cold Callers of various stages who are waiting for more. You just never know who the Cold Caller might be.

You've found a great place here. You'll probably hook up with the friends your looking for.

If your loosing during the VP part, I'm thinking it has to be the jumping. There just isn't really any other way to loose 100+ points.

Read all those great tips that the others have posted. You'll start getting better results.

You are making sure you and all your fellow toons are fully Toon'd up prior to defeating the last skeleton Cog right?

Yes. thats very important. Lure the last Skeleton Cog and TU until everyone on your team is full. It is good to have an s/f with you in SkelCog. That why you can TU eachother and others.

Yup...I realized that after the first time against the VP. I usually play with the sound off, but I'll turn it on when going against the VP now.

Toonups fighting Boss

If you need a toon up, don't waste time trying to reach the speedchat. Instead, just step in front of another toon. Most will continue to throw pies at you so you can get the points that you need. For those toons that think that toon ups while fighting the boss are a waste of time, not everyone's computer or conection speed is as fast as yours. Before I got my new computer, i got sadded or logged off 50% of the time while in VP. You want to talk about frustrating! I would see the boss jump, hit the Ctrl key and watch my laff points dwindle.

Good Luck,

I agree, just step in front of another toon throwing pies (be sure to face the vp so you can jump to preserve the points they are giving you). So many times a toon in vp says they need a toon up and they keep running around so I can't. Also, don't stand close to the vp to get tooned....step back so you aren't losing points from the gears being thrown. Not to mention the fact that whenever you are hit with the gears you get knocked around so that the toon-up aim is messed up. When you manage to say "I need a toonup" it's often hard for the other toons to find you in the heat of battle (since the direction arrow that points out your location disappears when you speak).

Usually after going in front of toons they ignore me and run away. It seems more effective when I say can you help me and I need a toonup. I control my toon with my left hand. Thumb does zip. Index on right arrow, Middle forward and back arrows, ring finger is left arrow, and pinky gets the right control key.
My right hand index finger or middle finger usually gets insert but I move my right hand to the mouse when I talk.

Yes, don't listen to the cold caller statement. cold caller 2+ should be fine, because they obviously know how to stay alive. cold caller 1 depends. Check the LP first. You can have a 91 cc1 that could be of value. Next check their gags. It's suprising the gags some lower level toons have. Just because they're a cold caller doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing.

They could have been in once, and died, and now know how things work. Or they may be fast learners. When CHQ tasks come, you're going to want to be comfortable with most toons.

I'm a 100 point toon and I keep getting my butt kicked in the first part or second part of the VP attack. I've been through 5 times and I'm 0-5. This last time on our side we had a 100,101,102 and a 50 and we lose! How do we beat all these cogs!?!?!?!
