Cold Callers Unite

UPDATE!

From now on, all sceduling and logistics for the guild will be under a different forum heading. Under "Other" find "Groups/Clans"... then look for what folks? COLD CALLERS GUILD!

You might as well post your opinions there, too!

See you there!

Original Post:

I've just spent a very frustrating hour trying to get on the Sellbot Boss Building elevator. I've only been on once before, and I didn't make it, but not because I am not a good player.

I've just received my #5 cattlelog, so I must be a five week old toon. Already I have 62 laff limit, Brrgh teleport access, all my throws, five squirt , 5 sound, 4 toon up, and 4 drop. I have made and remade a cog disguise, sometimes easily, with 3 100+ toons, sometimes squeaking by with toons on par with (or lower than) me. But I know how to make the best of what I've got. And I know how to COOPERATE.

I think I do so very well, because I HELP OTHER TOONS. Whether I need the building or not, if I'm not in the middle of a pitched battle, or about to board an elevator for a 4+ building that I suspect has the drop I really need, when my friends call, I answer. I'm not perfect. Folks who don't play as often as I do, don't last on my friends list. We all know it is best to work with people who are working on similar tasks. But for every one building I've defeated for myself, I have defeated a building for a friend. Heck, just the other day, I helped a new toon defeat a building because it was there, and he asked for help, and I had the time. No jelly beans, No reward. Well, unless you consider this:

When you were a 19 laff limit idiot, AND WE ALL WERE ONCE, you depended on polite, cool, higher level toons to let you on elevators, toon you up, compliment you when your fruit pie slice dealt the death blow to that last standing cog. When that fool kid succeeds, we all succeed. The newbie goobers get better with encouragement, and the game grows. Subscription goes up, ToonTown expands, and we all win.

Sure I've "died" in a building that I really needed and had looked all over for, because some fool 16 LL slipped in and took the slot I needed for my 50 point pal. But hey guess what? IT IS A GAME folks, and there are little kids playing. Within 24 hours, I've found what I've needed.

Ok, I ditched a friend once because she followed me into a building without any gags and we all "died", but I was having a bad day, and that could happen to anyone. (BTW Jenny if you can forgive me, I'll be your friend again) Don't make a habit of being mean. If you are getting so steamed by those fool newbies that you are pounding your computer desk, cursing at the screen, here is my advice: Get yourself a cool drink, and go lie down for a while. YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK.

Do you know ho many times I got ditched on the Sellbot VP elevator tonight? They even ditched a level 8 cog disguised toon. Then they laugh. Listen carefully: Toons in disguise are not Cogs. They are toons. What is wrong with you folks? So you get a couple of newbies on your team, and perhaps because of this you don't defeat the veep. Is gagging up, raiding the factory for parts, and trying again any more time consuming than spending an hour ditching cold callers on the elevator? You know what, you might succeed, and then you will have made new friends. I find the times I have won by s****ing by far more exciting, memorable, and satisfying than the battles I've won in which I come out of it in better shape than I went in!

By the way, if you ctrl alt del out of the game before the veep elevator ride is complete, you will still be alive and in Sellbot HQ, with your disguise intact. A big loophole? I think it's necessary when people wait all night on a loading platform for a cold caller-less elevator. Hey, you high level toons in Sellbot HQ, weren't you cold callers once, too?

Or.. Are you now a cold caller? Would you like to brave the Sellbot VP with a sturdy bunch of brave toons with less than 70 laff points? Reply to me, and I will help to set up a guild of newbie veep building raiders. United, we will be Mr. Hollywoods in no time. Your alternative is the elevator shuffle.

Cold Callers Unite!

AJ

Well I, for one, will sign on. 92 laffs, available most evenings, and SICK of the elevator shuffle. And you can count my wife in, 86 laffs, even more disgusted with it than I am. She won't even consider going to the HQ to do the shuffle. Flat out told me, if theres a group ready I'll go, but I'm not doing that dumb dance again.

So sign up: Sir Sammie Twiddlefoot and Lady Lily Twiddlefoot.

Understand the frustration....

Hate the elevator shuffle more than anyone; that is why I have started waiting until enough sf and their friends can go and we have a "full house" ready to go before we even go in. It is time consuming and aggravating but hate the whole jump on jump off elevator even more.

I am a level 8 Mingler right now and 103 Laf; and in defense of the higher lv. cogs in disguise, I will say that not all of us freak at the sight of a cold caller. I will look at their gags and experience level. The old saying of a rotten apple spoiling the whole bunch comes to mind; I guess that can go both ways in referring to some high lafs that trap lows on elevator to clear them out, as well as those low laffs that come in to fight with low gags and empty laff meters. Bottom line, you are right, it is just a game and as my mother used to say..."Play nice or don't play"

I can come. I am currently 78 laffs, but as soon as I defeat 16 more cogs, I'll have 82 laff points.

Is this guild exclusive to CC's? I'm beyond that, but I'd happily be an "honorary" member to avoid the shuffle and help out all the CC's.

Count Me In

I'd love to join up with you. I just finished my cog disguise last night so I am brand new level 1 cold caller. I'm 92 laff but I've just been getting into sellbot hq lately. So I have never made a run for the VP but I am excited to try.

I so appreciate what you said as I'm the mom toon of a 4 year old and she plays as well. I think we have to remember that this game is for kids too! I get on the elevator with anyone and everyone and if I get sad, oh well. It's a part of the game.

All the best,

Queen Slappy MacNoodle
92 laff
maxed squirt and throw
fifth level tune up, sound, drop
fourth level lure

It would probably help if we all post our availability schedules:

Lily and I are on most evenings except mondays, Eastern standard.

Help in VP

I wouldn't mind helping in vp.I hate the shuffle too. When I first started vp,I was one who always looked at gags and lp's.I learned my lesson the hard way! I started a new toon 2 weeks ago,and 3 strong friends of mine took me into vp.I was 65lp.The sad part was I ended up on the other side of my friends.I had a toon who wouldn't toon me up.Kepted asking me,"are u new here"? I had pretty good gags to.I was so mad that she played like that! I felt like going on my 103 toon who is maxed Mr.Hollywood just to show her I wasn't new here.Made me think about the low laughs who try to go in and fight the vp,but no one will go in with them.My new toon is now 101,and is a cold caller level 5.So if anyone wants help in vp,I will be happy to help out! Just send me a pm to let me know when and where.

That just stinks! I'd go with you to the vp anytime. Anymore, there are a LOT of cold callers in the lobby with one or two Mr. Hollywood's in their stable. Experience counts a lot in there as well as decent strategy. I'm sorry to report that more and more I'm seeing people with Telemarketer and beyond suits that don't know how to jump. What happens is that everyone spends all their time tooning and not fighting the VP. Come ON!!! I'm at my wits end on how to communicate they have to JUMP!!!. Please Disney...Give me another chance to buy that phrase, "Jump!" !!!

One thing I HAVE to mention. I always try to check gags and laff of as many as I can before going on the elevator and I start with the cold callers. WHY??? Because they are the ones most likely to have NOT restocked their gags and I won't go with someone who has their highest level gags missing especially if it's a B'day cake. Consider where you are going and make sure you are carrying your major cog killing gags and healing gags.

Good luck 2 all of you. I will soon have another Mr. Hollywood 12 and I don't think it's fair to take a lot of inexperienced toons to the VP since I have to bail at the end in order to preserve my 10,000 merits and often you need all the help you can get, right down to the last pie. Who knows, maybe you guys will help cut down on the elevator shuffle for all of us.

Yes it did stink real bad! Mad me mad! But what am I to do,but get over it! All I know is, I now feel for some toons with low laughs that are trying to move up,but no one willing to help them. Not all toons r like that though! If I take Sneakers to vp,I have to make sure there will be enough toon's left in there for when I need to alt f4.I would never go in if I knew they wouldn't be able to make it the last few seconds.I will always help whoever needs it! I love going to vp! New toon is strong enough to help people to now! See ya in TT!

Exclusive? Not as far as I am concerned. If you want to raid with us, right on. I'll count you in.
