Soft heart doesn't pay

Well I went in the VP with a bunch of low laffers out of pity. Don'tknow if it was pity for them or the ten toons we left shuffling outside...

here is how it went:

One guy jumps off at the 0 second so we are down to 7 right off the bat. Right away the moaning and groaning started.

I'm with the group of four. We fought the first wave and had some lousy luck. Killed the first level 12 right away (tip on him...every thing seems to miss but drop) and after that we'd miss 3 out of 4 lures and the toon ups were mediocre. We get near the end and after a series of further bad luck one of our toons bails on us. I keep saying, "Hang in there" and "Peice of cake" and the other two start doing better with their canes. (probably because there is one less toon to toon) I burn two cards of cogs miss when we were facing some big cogs. we gathereed out forces and attacked. One of the toons from the other battle jumps in for the final couple of turns.

While finishing them off the other two from the other side bail out. So now it is just the four of us. I think only two of us are over 80, so I suggest we head out. Thus ends the story. I stayed till everyone left except for one toon that just didn't want to leave, but I don't blame him as it was probably the first time he had made it that far.

Moral to the story, don't feel sorry for the low laffers, I had half a room full bail on me. They don't pack the equipment to do the job and they will bail on you in a heart beat.

Too bad they bailed. You're going to lose your merits/suit pieces/gags anyway - might as well go down with the ship.

Maybe one or two small toons wouldn't be so bad?
Hard to convince a group of that though, esp. if they are a higher level cog and have more at risk.

Write to Disney and vent your frustrations, maybe they'll change their policy on who should and shouldn't be there to begin with.

I've noticed that a lot of experienced toons are starting to go up to the VP with 6 or 7, rather than risk a lowbie showing up. For good players, 6 or 7 is no real additional risk, just takes a touch longer.

Well to clarify, if you TP out you won't loose your gags. You only loose suit pieces. At no timewhen you loose or TP out will you loose merits !

I went back in with a group of 7, (funny that was mentioned) that were all Cold Caller 3 and above. Some were in the 80's most were 90's and 100's. It was a quick easy battle. I find that three on a side works better and quicker that four many times.

Fumble, I have gone with 5 - 7 many times. This was not to aviod taking lower toons but was more for the added challenge. It also takes MUCH less time to organize a 5 person party. Often we don't actually say how many people we want, we just ask our friends and when they show up, we go with whatever we have.

I have also just gone to toon valley and jumped on with no sf's with whatever was on the elevator platform at the time with surprising results (good results for lots of cc1's and lower toons). It is ok to take some lower toons with you but where you failed is by taking too many on one trip. If you take no more than 1 or 2 lower/cc1 toons you limit the risk of their failure/bad game play, and they see 6 strong toons with them and are less likely to bail. I would never go with all lower/cc1 type players because your odds of making it are VERY low. I'd have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Thumbs up re: soft heart doesn't pay

The title of your thread: soft heart doesn't pay, kind of got me.

It does pay, but it depends on what your motives are. If you take a bunch of low laffers/low gaggers in just to show them what's inside or just because you felt sorry for them, well...were you expecting to win? If you weren't expecting to win then you went in hopefully with no regrets...you showed them the ropes, hopefully they were a little bit wiser as to what challenge faced them. If you were expecting to win and took them in for a challenge, then I'm sorry you were disappointed. And hopefully it made you a little more wiser in the process. Either way, I don't see it as a total loss. You tried your best & that's what matters.

Well I really didn't care if I won or not. I was very dissappointed that they all bailed on me. That was the point of the post. They all want to go, but when the going gets tough, they got going.

I did encourage the bail out before doing the skelocogs though, cause there was simply no way to do it with just four of us...but looking back it would have been cool to see what they threw at us, and how they split us up. (Two and two?) Maybe it would have been scaled down like I see some toons get, and we could have gotten through. I guess I'll never know.

It seems from my experience, that they scale down the level cogs for less people. So maybe you could've done it.

Yes, they would split you up 2 and 2 on each side and from what I've been through up there, they give you less to battle. I have also noticed that it seems to be easier if you are with lower toons in that they give you more 8's and 9's and less 12's. Not a scientific measure, just what it has seemed like to me.
