Can't figure out promotions

I know I should know this by now. I have read the guides and still don't get it. Yesterday I was a Lvl 9 TwoFace and needed 2,100 merits (ouch). I got them and VPd this morning. During the dance the display was "2100\420". Afterwards, I am now a Mingler lvl 7 (yea) and need only 420 merits.

Here's my questions:
1) What happended to Mingler levels 1-6?
2) Why is it I needed 2100 merits and now it is down to 420?
3) Does this happen with all the boss suits?
4) Once I get to Mingler 9, I will then move to Mr. Hollywood -- but which level?

Umm...I'll tell you as much as I can.
Once you get up a cog,you always start as one level up every new cog you start..
Once you get to Migler 10 or 11 (0.o) then you get to Mr. Hollywood.

Pretty sure these are the answers to your questions.

1) The Mingler Cogs only start to appear at level 7, so Levels 1-6 don't exist
2) You always get a big decrease in the number of merits you need when you go to the next suit, like Telemarketer->Name Dropper. The number you need shoots up when you are 1 level away from upgrading a suit.
3)Yes. Sellbot requires the least amount of merits, and Cashbot is another step from that, and Law is yet another step.
4)Mingler 11 is when you are a level away from Mr. Hollywood, something around 3000 merits is what you'll need.

The cog suits each have five levels and progress in this way -

Level 1 - 5
Level 2 - 6
Level 3 - 7
Level 4 - 8
Level 5 - 9
Level 6 - 10
Level 7 - 11 (Promotion to final suit)
Level 8 - 12

Then you continue on and on to Level 50. Originally, the suits only went to Level 12, but when Disney saw how fast people reached Level 12, they increased it. Of course, HQ was much harder back then and you had to get a LOT more merits every time. Suit progression is the same for all HQs so far.

If you look at a guide to merits/bucks/jns either here on on the TT Guide, you will see that they start low at the beginning of each suit and increase to a promotion amount. Once you get that new suit, you start the process again.

Regarding the 2100/420 - that is showing that you did 2100 previously and now need 420. Whenever I see someone with a merit display like that, I know that they just got a suit promotion.

Mingler levels are only 7-11. It goes low cause its the first level of it. It will get higher at level 9. You will start at Mr Hollywood 8.

So, I can enjoy my Mingler suit for a bit before I get burdened with merits again! I have heard others comment on how tough it is to get those points, but I didn't really appreciate it before last night. Now, at least I will be prepared for what is to come.

No no no. You have this all wrong, OP.

1. Two-faces maximum level is TEN. Level nine is not the final level.
2. Minglers do not go to levels 1-6. Same with all other cogs that are not the first cog in the gallery. Two-faces start at 6, Hollywoods start at 8, etc.
3. Merits do not rise continously. This happens with every final level of cog, and hollywood levels 12, 15, 20, 30 and 40. Level 50 will show a "Maxed".
4. Minglers become Mr hollywoods at level 11. You will need 3,400 merits.

If you're wondering, the system of how level 12's merit system is this:

E.g. Big Wig level 12.

You need 14400 JNs. So..

You take Mr Hollywood's level 12, add Robber Barons level 12. (5500 + 8900)
You get 14400.

For Mr Hollywood's 12, you take Mingler 11 + Two-face 10.

Oops - I was TwoFace Lvl 10, not 9. In my excitement to move up a suit, I also forgot that the bigger cogs don't start at low numbers.
