Walking into Cog hqtrs.
I have an 83 and a 54 laffer. I have suits for both. I have taken the 83 in to battle the vp once but, since everyone is so hyper and crazed about the vp battles, I don't go anymore. To me it isn't fun at all. I very rarely ever go to the factory anymore. It just isn't worth 1/2 an hour of my time to fight for a spot on an elevator.
However, I love to talk cog talk with my friends. So I will go into the lobby and those maxxes toons that are in a paranoid frenzy will be all over my 54 laffer. I can be standing in the corner minding my own business and I have had maxxes come a push me around and talk stinky to me. I am not even on the elevator platform for heaven sake. I can be back at the door close to where I came in. |

Nice post WizardHawk. You said everything very well.
I guess this is a little off topic, but since it's kind of been asked. I can usually tell if a 15-45 laff toon is new to the game, or new to the toon. They tend to be polite. First off, if they see you running down the street, they don't bombard you with friend requests, or constantly say "Please be my Friend" They tend to start things off with "Hello"-"I need to defeat a such and such"-"can you help me" I can usually tell by their first or second move in a building if they know what they are doing. If they pass, when I lure multiple cogs, that's the sure sign of a toon who knows what they are doing. I can usually tell by what they are doing, if they are actually testing my skills. New to the toon toons don't usually suggest what gag I should use either, and they don't usually ask for toon ups. They play relaxed, and are not usually to concearned if thing go badly. I'll be the first to ask them to be my friend. I don't really understand why the friend requests bother so many people. I have no issues with saying no when they ask. If I was walking through the mall, and someone walked up to me out of the blue and asked to be my friend, I'd think they were nuts. I treat the game the same way. If they follow me around, I just change districts. "You Stinks" don't bother me either. I just smile, and say "Have a nice day", and TP away. Sorry to go off your topic here, but someone did ask how you could tell a noobie noob.

Ok, I think I get it now
Ok, I get it now that you are trying to explain why higher laffers are mean. You are not necessarily putting down lower laffers.
I guess if you've been playing the game a really long time all the 'elevator shuffles' and 'please be my friends' probably would become irritating. With Cog hqtrs, it's given them something new and different to work on so they get upset when the others should be exploring areas that are still new to them. Am I on the mark? Though I am not as old to the game as some, I was getting pretty bored with doing building. I started soloing and that was ok. Now, I find it challenging to take smaller toons through buildings. PS (this is supposed to be a joke) I just wonder if those people that are getting too frustrated and developing bad behavior are people that need to take up the sims. They could create a sim called low laffer and then torture it. lol |

I am not a high toon ( 75 lp ) could always be higher and will someday hehehee
i like helping all my friends when I can ( not saying I can all the time ( there are one thing I dont like and one I hate ) dont like 1, is when I am going to fight a real hard boulding and a low friend trys to join me knowing they cant win ( just a game but it hurts to see them go sad and there is nothing I can do to stop it) 2, I had this happen a few times a friend on my list ask me to help them ( bad timing ) I be in a boulding or someplace where I cant help them and they start hitting me with " you stink or blank is angry" then leave my list I love helping but i also love playing I do have tasks to finnish so if you are on my list and I cant make it please try to understand that I cant and not that I am trying to be mean. and if you come to join me and you cant win wait for me if you need help and not just jump in and try. i hope this was not mean sorry if it was |

Wizardhawk has offered a good description of what it is like to have a maxxed LP toon and why many of them are unresponsive to nearly all requests. When bringing my main toon up to the maxxed LP level I noticed that friend requests came out of the blue instead of after a shared experience. It no longer mattered to people asking me whether we were at similar levels or working on similar tasks. Instead it seemed like it was my perceived duty to help out any and all other toons. So instead of explaining myself to someone I would just move away or go unresponsive. With several friends online at once, sometimes keeping up with PM conversations is enough work alone! I feel compelled to respond to DutchAmerica because, while understanding the overall point of Wizardhawk's idea, I don't think they're on the mark about the frustrations in the HQ. It is not upsetting for a high toon to see other toons in an area. Most high toons have been dealing with traffic in DDL for quite a while and that has been frustrating enough. Instead what I find most frustrating about the area is the sheer volume of requests that immediately bombard a high toon as the arrive the area (and that isn't exclusively in Toon Valley, the district I avoid at all costs). Instead of being free to explore an area or organize with our friends, unsolicited requests are thrown at the toon. That is frustrating and can prompt are harsh reaction. It is not because there are other toons in the area, instead the necessity of cooperation (and some of the tension of the setting, it's like a constant cog invasion!) cause volumes of unsolicited friend requests on a high toon. So high toons act less polite than normal. That's my thinking, a quiet but attempting to be polite, high level toon (101 LP) |

lol
When little toons pester me:
I pretend like I'm asleep. You know how you hit that snooze thing and it makes you look like you're doing something off line and timed out. They go away after a couple of tries. I know it's isn't really nice but in a way it nicer than what some people do. |

And I don't mind new friends either. It's just that, you know, it's kinda freaky when they horde around you saying, "Please be my friend!" ![]() Quote:

There is definitely some sort of trigger reflex from high-to-low and low-to-high toons. I consistently respond to low toons who whisper "Please be my friend" with the Sad emote and then "Sorry, I can't". More often than not, I get a negative response. I use the Sad emote when they get all stinky which tends to make them lose interest more effectively than any other method I've tried.
When I'm building a new toon and come across a big toon in TTC or the Dock. I generally let them know I am not a "true noob" by asking "What toontask are you working on". If they give the telltale "I need to defeat toons in ttc" or "I need to defeat some cog buildings", I ask "Would you like some help" or "Let's work on that". I don't ask them to be friends but will add them if they ask me. Most big toons recognize from my line of questioning that I know about the apprentice task and therefore am not a "true noob". I have 5 over 100 laffers, a 50-something laffer and 3 ttc noobs so YES, I have walked in low-laffer...AND...high-laffer shoes.
