Add to that maybe 5 VP’s for each good SOS card you needed and your talking well over 10 hours to collect one SOS card. Now since there were probably at least 60-70 cogs in the VP back then you probably needed 15 or 20 SOS cards for each solo run, when you add the several Toonup SOS you would need. The best I can figure it would take about 200+ hours of play for one complete solo and some insane number of hours to do several.
The one toon I recall that might have done a solo before Cashbot HQ was supposed to have spent a couple of months of heavy play preparing. Sorry, but I have to be skeptical about this.

I would agree with doc here, full VP solo at the time seems highly improbable, plus one should take into consideration the rareness of the right SOS cards needed to accomplish full VP solo. Also Toonwatcher mentions that:

which means that sos-shoping was impossible, plus every VP run for a right SOS card with randoms should've been victorious, - those 2 factors extend the ammount of required hours mentioned by doc (200+) even more
But if to return to the topic: I would agree with most who posted here - using level 7 gags during solo is not cheating, and it should be considered as one more
tool (together with sos cards, unite phrases and doodles) which is now available during a cog battle thus can and should be utilized.
The key point in any boss solo - is the part after the cog/scele rounds. So no matter how you deal with the cogs/scelecogs - as long as you facing them, and then the boss, alone - it should be validated as a fair, honest solo fight
