How 'bout a little teamwork?

So, my friend and I are in a CJ earlier today and I could tell during the cog round there were going to be problems when a certain mouse had an attitude problem and another on my side was apparently freezing up intermittently.

We make it to scale round with 5 on the jury (if I remember correctly), nine cogs to stun and all the gavels. More jurors would have helped, but it could also have been worse. I was prepared for a possibly long but victorious battle.

I like scaling and stunning. I usually stun because that's generally the most difficult, and usually there are plently of scalers. So, I headed over to the cogs and began to stun, then a certain young duck next to me whispers, saying I need to scale. I'll admit I really don't like it when ppl tell me what they think I should be doing (If you think there's too many people stunning then YOU go scale). HOWEVER, I was on my lower 109 laffer - one of the smallest in the group - and if she was going to be more comfortable with me scaling and that would keep her mind on the battle at hand and not on the rest of us, that's what I would do. Again, I like doing either one.

I looked over toward the ninth cog to make sure it was covered, and it was, so, without a word, I headed over to the scales where a couple of toons and the mouse with the attitude are trying to maneuver the gavels and each other and get their 26 peices of evidence in the pan.

Can you guess what happens next? The mouse with the attitude says, "You need to stun the cogs."

Imagine that! At that point I knew this battle was over before it was hardly begun. The mouse was already crying for a tune up, and someone obliged him. I was almost at full laff, still, so he must have been getting hit by the gavels. Anyway, after being tuned he went for more evidence, came back, and again said, "You need to stun the cogs." I wasn't moving from my position this time, only to have the duck say the same thing. If he thought there were too many scalers, he could go stun.

Instead he said "Bye" and promptly left the battle. A few miutes later a couple more did, then everyone else, and, lastly, my friend and I.

But, that battle could easily have been won (sheesh - 7 out of 8 of us were Big Wigs, it wasnt like we weren't experienced!). If everyone would have just done their job and not worried about whether there was one more peron stunning or scaling than they thought was ideal, we could shortly have been headed for the DA offices instead of trying to get through the shuffling and onto another elevator.

If you see there is a need for more scalers or more stunners, then go do it. Don't ask somebody else to. I've done lots of CJ's with one more person or one less person scaling or stunning than I thought was necessary and we still won. It's not a big deal if you'll just keep working TOGETHER and have your mind on what YOU are doing and not on what you think somebody else should be doing.

Ok, (Phew!) I feel better now. Good luck and have fun!

I agree. Having someone tell me what to do is very annoying, whether its about a gag choice, or stunning/scaling. I get alot of "You need to hit the scale" on my 109 laff duck, but i just ignore it, and do whatever i want, which is stunning the cogs most of the time, then once they see that i can stun 5 to 6 cogs with ease they keep their mouths shut.

teamwork

I agree. The first thing I do is to let the other toons know that I am going to stun, and then ask if anyone will help me.
I think the main difference is that you are asked instead of told what to do.

Remember you have zero control over what others can or will do. You only can control what you can do. Have fun.

Actually I'm glad you brought this up. Especially with the title of the thread being about teamwork.
Remember...there are a lot of us(especially now) who have awful lag. It's great that some of you can run around and stun 4 or 6 cogs alone. Most of us can't. And, when you need to run and get evidence, you will need backup. So, if you have 8 toons on a cj...ideally 5 will stun(one backup) and three scale. Dont run the rest of us off...just cuz you can. Let's play as a team.

I think you got the point of my post wrong. The point i was trying to get accross was about how i hate how ppl judge whether someone should stun or not depending on how high their laff is.

As for the last part of your post. I do work as a team player, and i dont just run ppl off of whatever their doing, so i can do what i want... If theirs enough ppl stunning then i'll gladly hit the scale. I just dont like being told what to do.

I got the drift of your post and I think it was nice of you to do as
the duck asked...
I also understand your point of view...
There are so many cheif's and so few indians some times...
You get tired of everyone telling you what you can
or can't do...
Some of these toons think they are such great players
and then you get in there with them, and they
are only good at telling you and everyone else
what to do....
And have no idea on how to play!!!!!
Oooofff!!!!

My Mood:
Good post!

I agree with what you are all saying here - teamwork is so important, and it's not for anyone to say what anyone else should do.

I was in a CJ yesterday (getting my BigWig 40...woooot!) with 2 sf and the rest randoms. One friend was lagging so horribly she could barely play. We also had one of the absolute best stunners I've ever seen in there (Twinklezaner, I think, something like that....) Lots of big suits, so gavels everywhere....

Well, when we started out I ran to the pan cuz the conversation in the elevator sounded like we had a full crew of stunners. Once there, I realized we had 5 on the pan and only 3 stunning... whooops... off I ran to stun.

Once I got there I realized that the 3 stunners were managing to cover all the cogs easily... wow! So, I stood back and waited until one ran for evidence, then slid into their spot to stun. Somehow, that toon misunderstood and instead of becoming the back up stunner, ran in to hit the pan. Okay, when I refilled, I went to hit the pan so they could stun again but they stayed at the pan... so off I ran to stun again.

I'm sure toons could easily misunderstand and think I was being indecisive... really I am just uncomfortable with only 3 stunners and was trying to make it 4 over there. In the end though, it was obvious that these toons preferred 3 stunners and 5 on the pan... and that's how the battle went. It was long and tough because of all the extra gavels, and the first CJ in a long time where I had to run around and toon up toons with evidence to keep them alive - so many gavel hits that the bonuses just weren't doing it.

It was a tough one - and frankly, not how I like to play the CJ - but it's a team effort and that's how the team seemed to want to play it.
For everyone who was in that run... and you know who you were - we all said PHEW about 10 times at the end...LOL..... you rock!
