What to do with Mooching toons?
What do you do with toons who jump onto the elevator with you, then hang back and don't fight any cogs?
They just sit in a corner somewhere, and when asked to "let's go fight the cogs" or "help" they say sorry I can't, I need more laff points etc. and basically refuse to fight. I'm thinking, man if I help this toon, he's going to eventually get enough suit parts to be able to shuffle on and off the VP elevator so that he can use the little bepop horn on three lured level 12 cogs. I don't mind helping out toons who try to carry some weight and actually listen to good advice. I sure appreciated it when I started out, and always deferred to the big laffer (still do). But boy, should one help these moochers? |

I'm the maven of outpsyching the leeches.
Ideally, you have already gauged the laff and gag arsenal of everyone near the elevator and nearby arrows of toons in Sellbot. If you just got into the factory with one you overestimated and they arent with you in the fight, tp out after the first set. If they stand with you, dont do anything and wait until they HAVE to put out a gag. When they see you not doing anything and there's a 50/50 chance of them getting hit, they will usually do something. Rinse and repeat. Use speedchat "Would you like some help?" "Let's work together!" If they finally put out, but they dont cooperate on the second set of cogs, tp out. If you mean buildings, then TP out after the first set of cogs and dont go to the second floor. That's often when you dont know what jumps on with you last minute. Street leeches who do this never stand a chance with me. "You first" or "Which way?" then will wait and do the bored or sleep gesture. When they see I'll let the cogs attack us, they either put something out after the first cog retaliation or run. I also do this in Sellbot Courtyard.

Moochers
Back before Sell HQ tasks, a lot of peeps thought my old toon (up to TB) was a moocher, but I always participated. The real moochers I generally leave alone - playing as if there were one less.

Having just attempted to VP twice and having everyone but another toon bail die after the first complete set of cogs. I've decided not to help anyone who doesn't help out in the factory.
These 30-40 laffer cold callers with little gags are like gnats buzzing around the VP elevator, and when they get to the VP fight persist on using bugles on the first lured level 12 cog, or set of lvl 10's and 11's. This occurs even when I'm chatting don't use sound on lured cogs as we get off the elevator. By letting these moochers get through the factory and collect suits parts so that they can clog up the VP elevator is just plain nuts. Toons that attempt to help, no problem. That's the spirit. But to sit back and be carried? No way. Talk about contributing to the welfare state of mind. Last edited by salizex; 11-26-2006 at 07:22 AM. Reason: more venting necessary |

I have had to deal with moochers on many occasions. I try to give anyone a chance, but once they show that they will not contribute, they deserve whatever happens.
I have let them be killed off at the end, by not attacking or tooning them up. I have let them engage the final group alone and then wait for them to be killed off if their gags are low enough that they would not be able to defeat them. When able, I have killed off the final set before they have a chance to join the group. This final scenario works best if the toon in question is the type to join battle just before the last cog is defeated. One time an sf and I, and a very quick minded random toon were able to defeat the final group before the moocher joined us. That sf had always called me one of the nicest players he knew and was astonished how I had planned that out, of course he was pleased that we did it!

I had a factory moocher for the first time this weekend. After the first time I asked "Got gags?" and they said yes, then stood aside again. I used speechat to indicate to the other two Let's Play Again.
No one does that on my runs uninvited - or should with anyone - and get a suit part. That's how VPs go real wrong. You do everyone a bad service letting them go to the end. I won't grief or get them sad, but I won't let them complete a run either. If enough people abort and restart without them, they'll be compelled to use gags to see a suit part.
