My VP Solo Story - It wasn't pretty, but I did it.
Once upon a time, long, long ago there was a purple dog with yellow tights. He wore a CC uniform and entered the elevator to face the VP. No sooner than the doors closed the other 7 toons who were with him evaporated and left him alone. He waddled out of the elevator and down to the second platform where the VP himself awaited. He fought the cogs valiantly, however, in the end went back to the playground with a sad, green face.
A while later, after finding the CCG, this same puppy once again faced that nasty VP. He found himself standing alone, throwing pies at the VP, attempting to defeat the foe who had just taken down the other 7 toons who had loaded the elevator with him. Try as he might, he just couldn't get the tracks to move, oh, mind you, they were moving, but UP the crawlway, not down toward the helipad. After a greuling battle that lasted a little over an hour, he finally gave in and allowed himself to be shocked to death from the jumps of that VP, just to end the agony. Having solved the first of his problems by finding the CCG (toons ditching him on his way to face the VP) he set out to solve his second (acquiring the skills necessary to defeat the monster in the event he was the last toon alive). His quest led him to search the tomes of ToonTown knowledgebases (thanks to Popcorn Cheezy... and his video), interview some toons of legend (thanks Doc Q and Dawgie), and seek skills training (Thanks Pink!). One day the puppy decided that he may have the necessary skills to survive as a friend mentioned that she thought he might could take the beast down alone! Why not? he replied, it is only jellies. The purple, yellow tighted, puppy decided since he cherished his "laugh point" VP runs to make it his 50 run. However, after conferring with some friendly toons, he changed his mind, afterall, the 50 run is about friendship and sharing your joy with those friends. So, he decided that the VP will meet his doom at the hand of yet another single toon on his HW40 run, ohh my, now to prepare!. Puppy has 6 VP promotions to gather any cards he will need in order to face the monster alone, so he sets out a strategy and begins gathering. He also realizes that he cannot face the sheer number of cogs and skeles that will present themselves in defense of the VP without a good arsenal of Unite phrases. Puppy's game plan: Collect 5 star cards and as many Unite toon up phrases as possible. Onward to RB50 in order to farm Unites! easy enough, On to VP and alt out at the end to farm for SOS cards, more difficult. Puppy gets impatient and decides enough alt'ing is enough, he is ready now or never. He did manage to collect multiple toon-up SOS cards and one 5 star sound, but no Bessies or Clara's. Last night, Crazy Orville Bumbleberry, the purple dog in yellow tights entered the Sellbot Headquarters with one goal in mind: Defeat the VP alone. He had practiced fighting the cogs a couple of weeks before to develop some strategy as he didn't have the drop gag in his arsenal and would be limited to sound, throw and squirt in which to damage the cogs. Yes, he had a couple of places where he knew a TNT would come in handy. What he hadn’t practiced was the pie throw, and this is where he found his skills still lacking. He badly underestimated the tenacity of that mean ole VP. He underestimated the VP’s skill at spewing oil and throwing gears, and overestimated his own ability to dodge those nasty oil sprays. Orville went in at 115 laff and came out at 116. The lowest he got was 6, when he pushed the VP over the edge of the helipad and onto the s**** heap his laff stood at 36. Like I said, it wasn’t pretty, he made plenty of mistakes. He doesn’t have an idea yet as to how many cogs and skeles he faced, he started counting them, but gave up as he needed to concentrate on his strategy. He did record the whole thing start to finish and is attempting to break the video down into chunks so that folks can see every mistake he made. The cog round lasted approximately 24 minutes, the skeles about 22 or so, and the pie throw went on for around 20 minutes. A breakdown on the cards he used: 2 Flippy’s, 3 Madame Chuckles, 2 (4star toon-up), 1 Moe Zart, 2 LOM. Unites: 1 gag up lure, 1 gag up throw, 3 gag up all, 1 toon-up 40, 3 toon-up 80, 5 toon-up all. Here are some pictures of his adventures (note that the reason there is no district info on the shots is that these are actually taken from the movie file (he took no Toontown Screenshots). The movie file is 454 megs and 107 minutes long. Elevator doors open, revealing his prey! The confident stride down to meet the VP. Initial set of cogs: Strategy, lure, cake the 12, take hit, fog. I know lure missed this set once, maybe twice, lol. Last two cogs: Strategy, Lure, squirt, TNT, Lure, keep the lvl 1 around for doodle toon-ups before going to skeles. Waddler was well-fed and performed like a champ! He only missed once, and that was on a trick I don't call on him often to do. He Rocks!! In the skele round, lure missed quite a bit, I also struggled some here, debating on using more gag-ups. There were actually two "false" last cogs. (when you think you are on the last set, but another set comes out, that happened twice). Strategy here was to use sound enough to damage a set of cogs, then try and take them out with level 5 gags as much as possible. I also lured and took out two cogs, allowing two to hit me before sounding again. Once again, doodled up to fill laff meter before going on to pie throw, Waddler is awesome!, I can't hit the broad side of a barn. Initial pie drive, started off pretty good, I started making mistakes on the first landing ( I found that the transitions from ramp to landing were a little more difficult than I though they would be) I made a good many stupid mistakes in pie throw, in this one, I ran into him while moving up for a stun. Other mistakes I made: being out of position before oil spray (when this happened, I couldn't back up fast enough and got sprayed, and then geared, before I could react.) : I also missed one jump. I've been practicing hitting him during the times he opens his door and jumps simultaneously. One time I hit, one time I missed, on the time I missed, I also missed the jump. When I pushed him over, I was at 36 laff. I still wasn't worried, more upset at my poor performance. I also noticed that as I was credited for the win, I also got my laff back. (sort of like when you turn in a task while not being full laff). I thought this would happen when the rescued toon tells me congrats on a laff boost. Madame Chuckle congratulates me on my new laff boost. So, what's next for the purple puppy in yellow tights?? I'm thinking seriously about taking down the CFO as well, but first, I'm going to get my Hollywood key!!!! |

Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your accomplishment – VP SOLO.
I could see that it must have been a tough battle for you since there were many TU cards and unites were used, but it was definitely worth it to trade for the victory wasn’t it? Enjoy your victory. I’m also very proud of you for being the first un-max toon soloed the VP. It’s very impressive. I’m waiting to read your CFO solo victory next. Last but not least, congratulations on your HW50. ~Melissa |

yes, actually indeed , ther r 2 main strategys can b used - either maximum use of SOS cards (though u need to have quite an arsenal of them - at least 3 bessys and 3 LOMs - which is of course requires a lot of "sweating" to find ) OR the lack of the above mentioned can b compensated by TU unite phrazes, which is easier to collect, if u didn't max ur sell suit yet.
When I was doing my VP solo (I posted a video of it as well) I was trying to use maximum sos cards for eventuall CJ/CFO experiments. Once again great job even more since u were not even maxed in sell Last edited by DJ Max; 05-16-2006 at 12:06 AM. |
