Toontown Windowed (etc.)

The world-famous files with shortcuts to set Toontown to run in different modes, including Windowed.

-rcv-
Kid Bugs

TTwindow.exe

Edit: Due to popular demand, I've restored the link.

EDIT2: Here is the contents of the Shortcuts.txt file from this.
I've added full command lines so you can copy/paste them into your Start->Run if you don't want to use the shortcuts.
There are some details here that are out-of-date, but most stuff should work.

-------
The files in TTwindow.zip include shortcuts to run Toontown with all known parameters.
These can help resolve some problems when running Toontown.

These shortcuts are intended for Toontown Open, also known as LE, current version is 1.0.6.12, they may not work with Toontown Test or later versions of Toontown.

These shortcuts will NOT Launch Toontown, they only set the game to run under different settings, like in a window. When you run the shortcut, a black box should briefly flash on the screen. That is normal.

These shortcuts assume that your Toontown is installed to the C: drive, which is normal. If your Toontown is installed to a different drive, you will need to change the drive setting in the shortcut.

Toontown will save it's state in the file "useropt" (no extension) in the Toontown folder (C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown).

If a shortcut causes Toontown to stop working for you, you will need to reset the game state. Do this either by launching via a shortcut that changes back the state, or run the included shortcut "Toontown RESET".

I have grouped the options according to function:

Options:

Graphics Engine:
-OGL: select OpenGL as the graphics rendering interface
-DX8: select Direct3D 8 as the graphics rendering interface (default)
-DX7: select Direct3D 7 as the graphics rendering interface

Windowed or Full Screen:
-fullscreen: use fullscreen mode (default)
-windowed: use windowed mode

Set Resolution:
-lowres: set the startup screen resolution to 640x480 (fullscreen only)
-pickbestres: allow game to set screen resolution to highest available (fullscreen only) (default)

Change Sound mode:
-force_sw_midi: force use of software-midi to play midi music
-allow_hw_midi: allow use of midi hardware to play midi music, if it exists (default)

Change Cursor:
-cursor_off: use standard windows mouse cursor
-cursor_on: use custom toontown mouse cursor (default)

For benchmark freaks:
-show_fps: show frames/sec perf meter
-hide_fps: do not show frames/sec perf meter (default)

-NoOverride: ignore new setting specifications if saved options file exists (default)

-save: save settings to 'useropt' file (default)

This is used as a last resort if Toontown needs to be uninstalled and will not complete the uninstall properly:
-uninstall_activex: uninstall toontown activex control

Files in the archive:

You can window ToonTown by going to the first page in your Schticker book and changing the setting from Full-screen to Windowed. You can also change other settings, but you probably already know that by now. ^_^;;

Right-Click the file, then click "Extract" follow the steps of the window that pops up.

AND, you probably can't run Test in windowed, it IS test ya know..

My Mood:
I tried to get this file to work this evening, with no success.

The files say they are extracted, but I think they need to be executed to work.

What is the next step after extracting them? Please advise.

Thanks,
Violet B.

Probably, but you would manually need to manually do it using the Configrc program from the console. To do this:

Start>Run

For Public Client(regular toontown)
"C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown\configrc.exe" (arguments)

For Beta Client(Text)
"C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown test\confgrc.exe" (arguments)

Replace (arguments) with the cmd arguments in configrc:
-? Help
-cursor_off Use windows cursor
-windowed Windowed mode
