Not sure but maybe it was from points you accrued when using SOS toons. I know one of my test toons used Lil Oldman so much back when we were getting exp (speaking of helpful bugs), soon as I finally completed the final training for lure, I was given $10. It sounds like maybe this is what happened in your case?
