Technically speaking, I did have a 'toonless' wonder. My VERY FIRST toon, I chose Sound. I was not given the opportunity to choose toon up again until I was in the Brrg.
It wasn't a nice feeling to have toons refuse to do thing with me because I didn't have toon up. It also felt bad when people would go sad because I couldn't help them. That's why regardless of what I am creating the first thing I get is tu. I never pass it by. But that's my choice as it it a choice for others too.
However, if a player is inexperienced and doesn't know the strategies, etc., very well, he might think twice about 'not' getting it. And if he chooses to forego toon up, I don't think they should complain that no one will help them.
