I agree. Who knows who's out there. But, since the Walt Disney Company (owners of the game, as we all know) cares about the safety of it's coustomers, (us) there are right to make a secure system to keep us safe in a safe, online enviorment for us to use the game. If it was just a normal chatting game, the game would go straight up from G-Rated to M-Rated and would not be safe for it's veiwers, (children mostly, us) so it wouldn't be safe point blank. Secret friendships in the game are for toons you really know well, even if it's over the internet, you know them in a way that you are both not strangers to each other.
To cut to the chase, they are right to keep us safe online,
