I raced with someone doing the exact same thing. At the time I wasn't sure if it was some sort of a glitch or what, but I saw somewhere that it may be some sort of a way of cheating The toon that did it did was speedchatting 'you'll never beat me' or whatever that is and "hee hee" to all of us after he beat us.
