Actually, you are probably not missing much by not being able to hear what's being said. Most of the people using voice are also typing and reading Yahoo text.
I like being on voicechat because you can react instantly if someone says (for instance) "watch out there's a live goon behind you" or maybe "you take my crane and I'll stomp". But I do appreciate the many reasons why people don't do voicechat, for instance family at home or strain on the computer.
