Well, I WAS there - running LVTPs toon as well as my own.
Personally, I was floored at the bashing that we took at the dance. Since the toons we were on that did participate in seltzer were treated nicely, and I'm sure we didn't behave differently on the 2 toons during any other part of the battle, I'm sure it was because we hugged the wall during the seltzer. If we'd been parked in the corner eating snacks I might have understood . . . but a toon hugging the wall is clearly either someone running 2 toons or someone called away by RL that expects to be back soon.
We finally had 6 toons there and the others seemed willing to go with the 6, so my friend and I both logged in an extra toon to HELP with the cogs. We would have preferred to only run 1 toon each, when others showed up we tried to step our 2nds out, but someone was "Helping a friend" and didn't want to go with us at all. When a 7th player entered the lobby as the clock was ticking down, my friend waited until the clock was at 1 before jumping on to allow that toon to get on rather than him running 2.
We gave it our all in the cogs, used our 7s, heck - I even figured out how to feed the cogs fairly efficiently with both toons (not as good as 2 toons run by 2 players, but fed more than I could have on just 1 toon). If you've never done it, don't say hugging the wall inhibits our performance on the toon that is playing. Although this was the first time I'd ever brought 2 into CEO, the distraction was minimal to none, it's the family outside of TT that causes distractions. Actually, with only the 6 toons participating I would have to say it was a very smooth and easy seltzer round. It would have gone a bit faster if the other toons had spent more time helping instead of watching the wall huggers and whispering to them.
Next time you see a toon jumping at the top of the ramp in VP or behind a craner in CFO, or hugging the wall in CEO (never tried in CJ, what IS the best way to keep that 2nd toon alive?) - how about thanking them for bringing in those extra gags to help make the cogs go smoother instead of chastising them for concentrating on a single toon during the final battle.
On a final note, this is TEST. We don't have the luxury of 100 toons in the pit waiting to go into battle with us. We can't skip doing boss battles because we don't have enough toons, good enough gags, high enough laff, etc. or none of us would ever progress. Take some chances. Maybe you'll dance, maybe you won't - but you will gain experience that will help in the next one and maybe, just maybe, you'll be pleasantly surprised with what you can accomplish when you work together.
