It seams to me that you have no experience with VOIP or you wouldn't make statement like that. I agree that there is less communication with other toons but if we see a toon in trouble we let everyone know instantly. You can't do that with speed chat.
My experiences with people using VOIP has been limited to playing with people who are using it on TT. I know when people are on it because they tend to be less "in the game". Lack of conversation with teammates (SF and non-SF team mates) , and slow/odd gag choices as they seem to be paying attention to "something else". This is just MY experience, I'm not saying that its "the truth". I stink at multi-tasking so I try and keep the IMs to a minimum while engaged in the cog battles, and always ignore it when fighting the "boss". Seems to me it is easier to ignore a flashing light on my screen, than a real persons voice in my ear. I know that there are others in the "room" while you are in battles... do they keep quiet while you are battling? How can you not be distracted? Don't you have to push some key to speak? How does that not interfere with battle. In CEO, I have one hand charging the seltzer or shooting the golf balls, the other usually checking the LP of my team mates, and if they are low... I try and tell them to snack or golf, or I'll tell everyone "Let's use Toon-up .... I only have two hands. I think the ability to communicate equally with ALL team-mates in a boss battle is VITAL to survival, and MY opinion is that VOIP diminishes that communication.
