I have yet to try toonup-less, but I am planning on trying it out eventually. Toon-up really isn't a must-have, considering all of the things that give out TU. A lot of times I go through a CFO/VP/CJ WITHOUT using TU at all. I don't think TU is a necessity, but if you want less grief and to keep your friends, make sure you carry Unites and get a good doodle. You will get some grief, but just ignore them. The best thing about TU is that you can solo alot easier, so if you're one of those "stand alone" types it's a great choice.
