Well UK one was unrestricted, but even then, what was 3 days when you first ever played.
Don't remember getting very far in 3 days when i first started playing, about half way through TTC if I remember right. Of course now I cud easily get through TTC in 5 hours or less, with no outside help.
I think if you're gonna subscribe I think either way it's setup, it's enough for you to make decision.
At least with unlimited timed trial, you could work right till end of TTC before paying for game. You get to start in DD once subscribed basically.
