Toonup Challenged is OK
I have played on both sides of the fence. By Neo-Uber-Noobie has no toonup, and does the VP alot. I make it clear to new players that I don't have it. While some do complain, most just go on about the business of fighting. As long as we have 3 or 4 toons, we are ok. Is it a handicap? A little, but it also means I have more offensive gags than I would have if I chose Toonup instead of Sound.
I have played my bigger toons with players without Toonup, and once you know that is the case, it is no big deal. You adjust, and use your Toonup gags a bit more than you would if Toonup duties were equally shared. The only time I got worried was once when I ended up with a high LAF toon that had no Toonup, and we were alone agains the Cogs in VP. Just the two of us, which meant I would not be getting ANY toonups. At one point, my toon got pretty low on LAF, and we were about 2/3 of the way through. Fortunately, I had a Flippy or Madam Chuckle SOS, and that did the trick. Of course, the other toon was worried - who wants to fight alone? - and said "You are a genius!" when the SOS worked. (When we fought the Skels we had 3 to a side so it was no big deal.)
So in my opinion, Toonup Challenged toons are quite ok. It's just another way to play. I just want someone with me that has Toonup.
Have fun in ToonTown!
