Personally, I think safes can be very helpful in some situations, and I also think that drop gets used more in das, mints and boss battles(when its maxed) I think it is lame that you can only carry 2 tnnt, and 3 pianos. That is another reason that I think drop is more useful. That being the case, it makes it easier to train. For the record, I would just like to put out there that my piano HARDLY misses. I would say it hits over 95% of the time as long as it is stunned before hand. Drop is excellent when fighting big cogs. Im gonna have to go with drop for this one.
Actually, I'm going to take back saying Trap is useless. To me (only because of the way friends and I battle) we very rarely use a safe. I love using my trap door when all of the cogs are unlured with a damaged cog. I put the trap door right on the damaged cog and lure hits (since trap helps lure hit). Grand Piano we use all the time on that beggining level 12 or any 12's that come out with relatively lower level cogs.

I can't fairly say which you should pick (because of the way I play) and it's your decision. You have to decide which track is most helpful with the way YOU play. Also, Law is the only place I know that sometimes uses drop (although I rarely use drop with my team). I don't remember anybody using drop much in mints. As I said before though, I like drop for my playing style. I can't tell you what you would like with your playing style...

Have fun with whatever you choose!
