Training, Training and more Training
I would recommend working on your gags much more before you start heading out to fight the VP. An uber toon is one that likes to remain at low laff, but still packs a punch with some awesome gags. Work some buildings to train your gags to level 6 or so. The better your gags are the more likely you will dance at the end of the VP battle.
